By God’s grace, there are several options for securing financial aid for your studies. Our website is a good resource for learning about the different opportunities listed below:
Federal and State Aid
Federal and State aid is available at the College at Southeastern. We accept both the Federal Pell Grant, provided by the U.S. Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid, and the Need-Based Scholarship from the North Carolina Department of Education. Students apply for both the Pell Grant and the NC Need Based Scholarship by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
Completing the FAFSA® is a requirement for students at the College at Southeastern who apply for institutional financial aid, unless a student is unable to do so.
Southeastern does not participate in any federal loan programs.
Institutional Financial Aid
Institutional Financial Aid comes directly from Southeastern through gracious donors and endowments. Institutional Aid is tuition-specific and requires you to follow certain Eligibility Standards.
External Financial Aid
External Financial Aid comes from outside organizations. Each scholarship has its own deadlines, requirements, and limits on what the funds can be used for. We encourage you to check out the additional scholarships page for a list of potential scholarship opportunities.
Find Employment
Many students work on or off campus while studying at Southeastern. You can learn more about working on campus or in the community on our website.
Access Military or Veteran Benefits
If you are serving or have served in the military, you may be eligible for education benefits that you can use at Southeastern. Learn more about military and veteran benefits on our website.
Carefully Consider Private Student Loans
At Southeastern, we do not participate in any government subsidized loan programs. Students may receive loans from private lenders, but we encourage students to carefully consider taking loans for funding their education. You can learn more about loans on our website.
Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) Discount
Due to the generosity of commissioning churches within the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), Southeastern is able to provide a substantial amount of aid to students who are members of SBC-affiliated churches. This amount is equivalent to 50% of what a student would normally pay for tuition and fees and is one of Southeastern’s most significant sources of financial aid.
You do not need to complete an application to receive the SBC tuition rate. When you apply for admission to Southeastern, you will indicate your religious affiliation and automatically be eligible at that time. If you are transitioning to an SBC church, please reach out to the Registrar’s Office at registrar@sebts.edu to learn more about switching from the standard tuition rate to the SBC rate.
