Why did my financial aid change?

There are several reasons why your financial aid can change:

  • You made changes to your enrollment
  • You were overfunded
  • You were ineligible for an award

It is important to remember that all scholarships are given based on the assumption you will be enrolled full-time.

You made changes to your enrollment

Making changes to your enrollment by adding or dropping a class may cause your financial aid to change.

Dropping a class

If you drop a class during the allowed drop period, your scholarship will be adjusted during awards confirmation. Most scholarships require a student to be enrolled full-time to receive 100% of the scholarship, or three-quarters time to receive 50% of the scholarship. However, some scholarships require full-time enrollment and will be removed if you are enrolled less-than-full-time.

Adding a class

If you have an award that was reduced or removed because of enrollment, but add classes and regain eligibility, your scholarship will be adjusted accordingly.

Please note: external scholarships, including federal and state grants, are always applied to a student's account before institutional scholarships.

You were ineligible for an award

During awards confirmation, our office makes sure that you are meeting any eligibility criteria for your scholarships. These criteria include items such as:
