What is Return to Title IV?

Modified on Thu, 18 May, 2023 at 1:33 PM

Return to Title IV (R2T4) is a federal policy that requires schools to make sure students are only awarded Title IV aid (federal financial aid) for the percentage of the semester that a student completes.

If a student completes at least 60% of their semester, then they are eligible for 100% of their federal financial aid. However, if a student withdraws from all of their courses in a semester, either officially or unofficially, before completing 60% of the semester, they will only receive that percentage of their federal aid. The remaining portion will be removed from the student's account, and if it has already been disbursed, will be returned to the federal government.

Students are responsible for any balance created by the R2T4 process.
