What happens after I submit my Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®)?

Modified on Tue, 30 May, 2023 at 10:37 AM

After you submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), Southeastern should have electronic access to your FAFSA®  information one day after it is processed by the Department of Education. However, depending on when you complete the application, our office may not review it for a few weeks or months.

As a general rule, our office begins reviewing FAFSAs® for the upcoming academic year about 3-4 months before the start of the semester. If you apply earlier than this, we may not review it immediately.

If you are eligible for federal or state financial aid, we will send you an email notifying you of the amount of financial aid you are eligible for based on a certain enrollment. Generally, our office begins to send these email notifications about 3 months before the start of the semester.

If you are not eligible for federal or state financial aid, we will not send you an email notification.
