The following information is according to the CBTE Scholarship Information Sheet in our file structure, and it includes updates which can be found in the email thread with Walter Bowen.
Sarah Lindsay is now our point of contact for CBTE.
Yearly Amount
- There is no fixed amount we are seeking to award for CBTE scholarships, but we will not award more than $25,000 in a single year.
Application Process
- CBTE students will complete the CBTE Scholarship application for the six month period in which the student is enrolling in courses.
- The application will typically be supplied by the CBTE office, but if a student is directed to our office, then we can provide them a link to the application too.
- The application will close one month prior to the start of the next six month period to allow for our office to review the information.
- Returning CBTE students are eligible to re-apply for financial aid under two circumstances:
- They have completed an outcome since last applying (e.g., Outcome 1 = OTS5110 and OTS5120).
- Students have not already received a scholarship for the current 6 month timeframe.
- Once a student completes the application, we should receive an email in Freshdesk notifying us of a newly completed application, and their response should be automatically populated in the 2023 July-December CBTE Applicant List excel sheet (or whatever the current list is).
- The excel sheet can be found in the file structure: Financial Aid>Institutional Scholarships>Awarding>2023-2024>2023-2024 CBTE.
Checking Objective Completion
- As soon as the student has completed the Outcome, their grade will be entered into PowerCampus along with the course equivalent to that Outcome (e.g., Outcome 1 = OTS5110 and OTS5120).
Awarding Process
- Awards will be determined in December and June.
- The Financial Aid office will determine students to award and award amounts with input from the CBTE office (Sarah Lindsay is now our point of contact).
- We will check with Accounting Services first to see if the student is receiving any significant 3rd party payments.
- Awarding will be based on need and merit, with a greater weight given to need.
- Awards will normally be given in three tiers:
- $594 (a reduction of $99/month for six months)
- $894 (a reduction of $149/month for six months)
- $1,194 (a reduction of $199/month for six months)
- Scholarships are awarded in 6-month cycles (January-June, July-December).
- Awards will be given when the student begins a class. Award amounts will be prorated and divided between the terms based on the student's start date.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
- In order to remain eligible for Financial Aid, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA.
- Additionally, a student must have completed at least one outcome since their last award.
