Why is my financial aid based only on courses in my academic plan?

Southeastern determines a student's enrollment for financial aid purposes based on how many courses they are enrolled in that are in the student's academic plan, also known as their Course Program of Study (CPOS).

CPOS is a federal requirement by the U.S. Department of Education that mandates that only courses in a student's current academic plan will determine the student's eligibility for federal and state aid, and we apply it to institutional aid as well.

CPOS was designed and has been found to help students finish their degree program faster by focusing on the completion of course work tied directly to their program of study. Timely degree completion also reduces student costs, including debt a student may choose to take on in order to graduate.
